AeroPress is an excellent at-home coffee maker for those who are looking for an easy cleanup, control, and portability.
I enjoy making coffee in the morning with my AeroPress. It’s remarkably simple to use, and you can brew a cup or two in a few minutes! What I love most about it is the mess-free clean up after each use.
What is an AeroPress Coffee Maker?
AeroPress Coffee Maker is a portable device for brewing coffee. It was invented in 2005 by Alan Adler. You can read more about it here on their website. Many serious coffee lovers all over the world enjoy using AeroPress because it empowers them to control the brewing process of their coffee anywhere.
How we make AeroPress Coffee?
I use the inverted process to brew our coffee. The instruction says you can brew your coffee using the AeroPress right side up, but I like to extract (let it bloom) the coffee for 30 seconds.
- Use the inverted method. Flip your AeroPress upside down.
- Take the AeroPress plunger until it’s on the top of the #4 circle inside the brew chamber.
- Add a scoop of ground coffee to the AeroPress brew chamber.
- Pour hot water (200F or 93C) until it reaches the top of the #3 circle inside the brew chamber.
- Let the ground coffee bloom for 30 seconds.
- After 30 seconds, take the stirrer and gently stir the coffee.
- Then fill the brew chamber with hot water to the very top.
- Take the filter paper and rinse with hot water before inserting it in the filter cap.
- Take the filter cap and screw it tightly on the brew chamber.
- Wait another one minute and a half.
- Take a cup and place it on top of the AeroPress and hold it with one hand. Then hold the brew chamber and the plunger on the other hand.
- Flip the AeroPress until it is sitting on top of the cup.
- Plunge the coffee carefully until you have pushed all the brewed coffee out of the brew chamber.
- Now you have a single cup of 8 oz coffee. Enjoy!

Questions you may have:
What grind setting should I use?
I use a medium grind setting. It’s similar to the coarseness of sea salt.
What kind of drinks can I make?
You can make an Americano, Cappuccino, Espresso ‘like’ and Lattes.
Can I make ice drinks?
Yes! You can make up to a liter of brewed coffee. Just add more coffee grounds to make a concentrated cup of coffee. Then pour the brewed coffee in a pitcher and add more hot water.
What kind of AeroPress should I get?
I bought the original Aeropress Coffee Maker. You can find it on their websites or a few other retailers. I bought mine on Amazon.
The main difference between the original and the AeroPress Go is the size. AeroPress Go is more compact and a lot easier to travel with compared to the original AeroPress Coffee Maker. I don’t travel a lot, so the original works fine for me.
Can I use it every day?
Yes! What I love about it is the cleanup. It is incredibly easy! After using my AeroPress, I take the filter and filter cap off. I push the plunger through the brew chamber and dump the used coffee grounds straight to the trash.
Did you know that there is a World AeroPress Championship?
If you are a coffee lover like me then you might be interested to know that there is a global competition to find who could brew the best cup of coffee using an AeroPress. 2019 winner was Wendelien van Bunnik from the Netherlands, and you can find her recipe here.
