Whip up this delicious dairy-free iced honey oat milk latte with three simple ingredients from your kitchen.
Although Iced Honey Oat Milk Latte became a popular drink because of Starbucks, I already knew about it from other cafes. But, they were mostly made with regular milk and so you see Honey Latte on the menu. Most interesting is that I have recreated this drink at home when I want a delicious sweetened iced latte. It’s very easy to make, especially when you don’t have vanilla syrup or other fancy syrups readily available in your kitchen.
I also made this drink with oat milk because I learned that I am reactive to dairy, so with the goal of being mindful about what I eat and drink this year, I switched to buying alternative milk products. And if you have too well, you have everything you need to recreate this popular drink at home.
How to make an Iced Honey Oat Milk Latte
Here’s what you will need:
Ingredients:
- Honey – I prefer using real honey. You can also create a honey syrup by watering down the honey in a small saucepan.
- A shot of espresso – I used a nanopresso, but you can also use an at-home espresso machine like a Nespresso or a Keurig.
- A cup ice cubes
- Oat milk – You can you any oat milk brand for this recipe.
Instructions:
- Pour the honey into a glass cup. Add a shot of espresso and stir until the honey dissolves. Then add a cup of ice cubes over the sweetened espresso shot and carefully pour oat milk over the ice. Stir and enjoy!
How is the Starbucks version made?
Starbucks’ popular Honey Oatmilk Latte is made with their blonde espresso roast or their signature espresso roast. Combined with their honey blend syrup, they finish the drink with hot or cold Oatly barista edition oat milk.
How is honey and honey blend syrup different?
Honey blend syrup is water down honey with preservatives and emulsifiers because when you google the bottle, you will see that it’s made with 64% real honey.
I think it’s better to make this drink with real honey because you get the benefits of antioxidants and it’s safer for your blood sugar levels.
What kind of espresso beans did you use?
I used the Starbucks signature espresso roast beans. I prefer the blonde espresso roast and you can buy both in their stores. When I buy the espresso beans, I ask their barista to ground them for me with the espresso settings and store them in an airtight container so that I can keep the beans fresh a little longer.

What should I do if I don’t have an espresso machine at home?
I bought a Wacaco nanopresso because that is the closest product on the market today that can replicate an espresso shot without the hefty price tag of an at-home espresso machine. Another option is to mix a small amount of water and a tablespoon of instant coffee and this will give a concentrated dose that can be a substitute for espresso.
Fun fact:
Starbucks branded the oat milk in their Honey “Oatmilk” Latte as one word.
